A CUSHION FOR YOUR HEAD

jUST SIT THERE RIGHT NOW
dON'T DO A THING.
jUST REST.

fOR YOUR SEPARATION FROM GOD,
fROM LOVE,

iS THE HARDEST WORK
iN THIS WORLD.

lET ME BRING YOU TRAYS OF FOOD
aND SOMETHING
tHAT YOU LIKE TO DRINK

yOU CAN USE MY SOFT WORDS
aS A CUSHION FOR YOUR HEAD.

***
what
we speak
becomes the house we live in.

A STRANGE FEATHER

All
the craziness,
All the empty plots,
All the ghosts and fears,

All the grudges and sorrows have
Now passed.

I must have inhaled
A strange
feather

That finally
Fell out.

THE GOD WHO ONLY KNOWS FOUR WORDS
Every
Child
Has known God,
Not the God of names,
Not the God of don’ts,
Not the God who ever does
Anything weird,
But the God who only knows four words
And keeps repeating them, saying:
“Come dance with Me.”
Come
Dance.

wHAT IS THE KEY
tO UNTIE THE KNOT OF THE MIND’S SUFFERING?

aCT GREAT, MY DEAR,
aLWAYS ACT GREAT.

wHAT IS THE KEY
tO UNTIE THE KNOT OF THE MIND’S SUFFERING?

bENEVOLENT THOUGHT, SOUND,
aND MOVEMENT.

ONLY ONE RULE

The sky
Is a suspended blue ocean.
The stars are the fish that swim.

The planets are the white whales I sometimes
Hitch a ride
On,
The sun and all light
Have forever fused themselves into my heart
And upon my
Skin.

There is only one rule on this wild playground,

Every sign Hafiz has ever seen
Reads the same.

They all say,

“Have fun, my dear; my dear, have fun,
In the Beloved’s Divine
Game,

O, in the Beloved’s
Wonderful
Game.”
